I Resolve: Revisiting the nature of my blog

Whoa, it’s 2018! When did that happen?

Today, I’m realizing how much time AND this blog got away from me. I truly apologize for that.

This blog has given me the chance to highlight some important things and people on my life journey. I featured both my incredible hair dresser and yoga instructor, took you guys to my most favorite dessert spot in Charlotte, Cupcrazed, and I even explored some difficult moments, sprinkled with inspiration.

As my life journey continues to change, I feel I’m constantly struggling trying to create a style for myself. Something that best represents me. At times, I notice I’m emulating others and that is blasphemy to someone like me who speaks so much about authenticity.

I resolve to change one thing this year (and for the rest of my life): I’m going to practice what I preach.

-----

What you get is what you get.

What you see is what you see.

Yes! I fully intend to keep writing and sharing my life here in Charlotte with all who will listen. Anyone who takes interest. Anyone who wants to go along the journey with me.

I want to keep making folks laugh and making mothers cry tears of joy when I right wonderful (and true) things about their daughters. I want to keep uplifting people. I want to keep using my words to encourage the masses. But, I also want to show you the ugly times too. The days that aren’t so pretty and the moments that are very raw and honest.

I want to start incorporating my poetry into my blog as well. Somehow, I find time to write poetry and prose in the wee hours of the morning while lying under string lights in my bed, but, then, I struggle with pecking away updates from my computer. It’s so typically me. So consistently inconsistent.

I could blame it on my zodiac sign and all the things that make Gemini both creative and flighty, both thoughtful and uncommitted, and simultaneously genius and pedestrian.

I also resolve to include more video content into this blog. Mainly just vlogs and speaking videos because sometimes to easier to listen than it is to read. At the end of the day, I just want you to feel like you are speaking with a good friend.

That’s exactly I want to be. Someone who helps you for no other reason than to be here with a good word, bad joke, new experience/story to share, words of encouragement and a whole lot of insight that won’t get lost in time like I did last year.

This year, I want to be more intentional about my time and commitments. One of those means being more committed to those who subscribe to my blog and other social media pages. I appreciate all of you more than you know. And I appreciate you participation in my life and growth, overall.

Have a fabulous Friday afternoon!

Asha
